Row of trees April 25, 2009

Just a quick and simple card. People often freak out if they receive a black card. Tough. I like black cards. This one has Distress Ink background and it uses Broken China, which is my new favourite, and Worn Lipstick, which is not my favourite but it goes with the Broken China. I like stamping various shapes out of those triangle trees. They go nicely into a row but also form a nice circle.

Little bag April 20, 2009

I have been doing some knitting while watching films. It helps me stay awake although I have no problems sleeping with knitting needles in my hands
There are lots of odds and ends in terms of yarn and I wanted to get rid of them. So I just start knitting and see afterward what it could be. This little thing turned out to be a bag. I even exceeded myself and took out the sewing machine and made lining, pocket and all. I even happened to have some polymer clay buttons ready. I am quite pleased with this one and have even used it on several occasions. Makes a change from stuffing everything in my pockets.

The great sense of passing through April 10, 2009

Do you still remember this recycled cardboard box book? Well, I have finally finished it. I knew which pictures I wanted to use on it but looked high and low with no luck for a poem that would go with the pictures. Finally I came across Dido’s song ‘Northern Skies’ which could not be any more boring and I would gladly watch paint dry (in fact, I think I would gladly listen to paint dry) rather than listen to the song again but the lyrics are good and totally fit the bill. Click the pictures for bigger ones.
I have returned to the northern skies,
Where the summer had not touched
The clouds that pass above.
Oh, and I have returned to the somber grace
Of the days too early to come and too early to stay.
And I have left a million stars,
And an ocean so lightly, so clearly blue.
And I have left the warmth of the sun
And a million adventures not yet begun.
The great sense of passing through,
The great sense of passing through,
The great sense of passing through.
Oh, for once there was beauty here for me
Under these white, northern skies.
I felt the green was blacker
And the blue was darker still.
My roots are lying deeper than I ever think they will again.
Heartache and poverty under these northern skies.
The great sense of passing through,
The great sense of passing through,
The great sense of passing through.

It may either sneak up on you or it may hit like a sledgehammer. Well, round here it won’t. Not anymore. I made a panic button!

Easter things April 7, 2009

Oops, someone has been naughty and has not updated anything here for ages. It’s Easter this weekend so here are couple of bunnies and such. Pääsiäisiloa means Easter Joy. Witches are part of Easter over here. I like witchy things and since Halloween is a non-event around here (well, for me it is anyway although they are trying to get Halloween into this country and I will never understand why) Easter is the only time to make anything with witches. So, very calmly I use witches for cards at Easter, regardless where in the world I might send them.
