Music house May 27, 2009

I like making books out of songs. This time I made one in the shape of a house. It has been bound with the Bind-it-all.

Page 1: Men at Work: I can see it in your eyes

Page 2: Kraftwerk: The Robots

Page 3: Nik Kershaw: You don’t have to be the Sun

Page 4: Noel Harrison: The Windmills of Your Mind
I just love this song!

Page 5: Landscape: From the Tea-rooms of Mars to the Hell-holes of Uranus
No comments, ha.

Page 6: Lightning Seeds: The Life of Riley

Page 7: Albert Hammond: It Never Rains in California

Page 8: The Kinks: Supersonic Rocket Ship
A project is not a very good one if I can’t fit my favourite rocket ship stamp in it!

Page 9: Kraftwerk: Autobahn

Page 10: Dido: Take my Hand

Page 11: Sting: Be Still my Beating Heart

Page 12: Captain Sensible: Crazy Fish
The writing on the window is a bit unclear. It says: The crazy fish swimming past my window make is all worth while with the bubbles that they blow.

Page 13: The Police: Walking on the Moon
Yeah, you go girl!

Page 14: Smiths: Some Girls are Bigger than Others

Page 15: The Kinks: Skin & Bone

Page 16: The B-52s: Song for a Future Generation

For little nieces May 22, 2009

My 5-year-old niece is a real princess. She walks around with fairy wings and a wand, maybe a crown on her head. Everything must be pink, glittery and shiny and have butterflies or flowers. She also loves to wear jewellery, preferably one with her name on it. Unfortunately, her name Eevi is a little uncommon and it’s difficult to find anything ready-made. So, aunty to the rescue. And just for the record, this is the first and last time I call myself an aunty, it makes me feel about 80, ha. Luckily it’s not common to call anyone aunty-this or aunty-that in this country. Us Finns come with a name! Phew.

Anyway, here are the bottlecap necklaces I made for Eevi and her older sister Emmi. Emmi is not too interested in jewellery but I made her one anyway. She is the total opposite of her little princess sister but I refused to make football or skateboard necklace. Both necklaces have glitter glue on the pattern paper and Glossy Accents on top.

My mother just paid me a visit so I made her do some work. I showed her how to do some coasters. This is what she did:

And this is a set I made as I was showing what to do. I just love that Paul Klee type paper.

I love dominos May 18, 2009

I love dominos! Once I start I don’t seem to be able to stop. So I made loads and I’m not done yet either.

These are little dominos with stamped images. I drilled holes in these and snapped all of the usable thin drill bits. Doh.

These are my favourites. I love purple! The celtic one has some Opaline pearls glued onto it and has a frame hanger glued at the back. The celtic image is stamped onto tissue paper which is then decoupaged on the domino.

Plenty of Brilliance inks here. The one on the left is really nice although the colour is a bit weird. It’s Olive. It’s not quite gold, not quite green. It’s rather indescribable but I like it. I also scribbled with Stardust pen which doesn’t show on the picture but it gives a nice shimmer.

The middle one went all wrong from the start. I first coated the domino with Brilliance Jade ink and heat set the ink. I then stamped the image with Thyme ink but the colour looked all wrong so I wiped it off. Well, it took the Jade ink off too but I like it. So, next I stamped Fragile with Stazon ink but it didn’t come out properly but I like that way. I’m so happy that all the things went wrong and not the way I had planned.

The one on the right is my excellent Paul Klee necklace. I also glued a strip of the same Basic Grey paper to go round the whole domino.

These ones I did ages ago but they have been collecting dust on the shelf. Now I finally glued some frame hangers on so that I can use them.

Another cheap as chips piece. I had some more leftover pieces from this so I made another bracelet.

Spring birds May 9, 2009

Another card. The book page has been gessoed first and the birds stamped with VersaMark and embossed with clear embossing powder. Distress Inks have then been sponged all over. Kevätterkut means spring greetings.

Just a quick card. I inked the flower stamp with Distress Inks and sprayed with water before stamping it on paper. Once all the flowers were stamped and dried I stamped them again with VersaMark and embossed with clear embossing powder. Then I inked and stamped the background and drew the outlines for the flowers with Sakura pen. I rounded two of the corners before attaching the paper to a cardstock. On the top corners I put some brads and Prima flowers.

Northern Angel May 5, 2009

One of my most favourite sculptures is Angel of the North in Gateshead in the Northeast of England. I just love it. In fact, I love most sculptures by its designer Antony Gormley. He designs amazing and somewhat creepy human shapes and some of them have started to act as my muses. How cool is that? Here is the Angel of the North.

So, I was thinking…angel…north…yeah, need to have one of my own. This is what I came up with. I had just received my new Artgirlz stamps and Dove blender pen, which were just perfect for this. The resemblance to the real Angel of the North is just amazing, wouldn’t you say? Only, my angel is a little prettier.
