Here are some Christmas cards I’ve made recently. I seem to like snowy things, blue and purple. Makes sense, I suppose.

Here’s couple of autumnal cards. Syysiloa means autumn joy. It’s just a matter of days now until it’s over. Autumn, that is.

Industrialize it! September 19, 2009

Remember this little fella? I thought it’s time to make his little, more industrialized brother. I ransacked the toolbox and an old knackered CD player for this sweetie.

While I was at it I thought I might as well do the country bumpkin cousin. And yes, I know the feeling!

I made this quick and funky card using just little bits and pieces. In this case, ‘Moi’ is not French. It’s Finnish and it means ‘Hi’.

Spring birds May 9, 2009

Another card. The book page has been gessoed first and the birds stamped with VersaMark and embossed with clear embossing powder. Distress Inks have then been sponged all over. Kevätterkut means spring greetings.

Watercolour flowers May 8, 2009

Just a quick card. I inked the flower stamp with Distress Inks and sprayed with water before stamping it on paper. Once all the flowers were stamped and dried I stamped them again with VersaMark and embossed with clear embossing powder. Then I inked and stamped the background and drew the outlines for the flowers with Sakura pen. I rounded two of the corners before attaching the paper to a cardstock. On the top corners I put some brads and Prima flowers.

Northern Angel May 5, 2009

One of my most favourite sculptures is Angel of the North in Gateshead in the Northeast of England. I just love it. In fact, I love most sculptures by its designer Antony Gormley. He designs amazing and somewhat creepy human shapes and some of them have started to act as my muses. How cool is that? Here is the Angel of the North.

So, I was thinking…angel…north…yeah, need to have one of my own. This is what I came up with. I had just received my new Artgirlz stamps and Dove blender pen, which were just perfect for this. The resemblance to the real Angel of the North is just amazing, wouldn’t you say? Only, my angel is a little prettier.

Row of trees April 25, 2009

Just a quick and simple card. People often freak out if they receive a black card. Tough. I like black cards. This one has Distress Ink background and it uses Broken China, which is my new favourite, and Worn Lipstick, which is not my favourite but it goes with the Broken China. I like stamping various shapes out of those triangle trees. They go nicely into a row but also form a nice circle.

Easter things April 7, 2009

Oops, someone has been naughty and has not updated anything here for ages. It’s Easter this weekend so here are couple of bunnies and such. Pääsiäisiloa means Easter Joy. Witches are part of Easter over here. I like witchy things and since Halloween is a non-event around here (well, for me it is anyway although they are trying to get Halloween into this country and I will never understand why) Easter is the only time to make anything with witches. So, very calmly I use witches for cards at Easter, regardless where in the world I might send them.

Doggie Christmas November 30, 2008

It must have been one of my weak moments when I agreed on making 20 cocker Christmas cards for our (or more like our dogs’) breeder. I struggle with two of the same and now I was to make 20! Lucky for me, all 20 didn’t need to be the same so I came up with a ‘recipe’ and made all 20 cards with different patterned papers, fooling myself to think that all the cards were really different. It was all good fun once I got going. I even cracked a joke in Finnish which doesn’t happen too often. I love plays on words but am incapable of making any in Finnish. How weird is that? Anyhow, this time I managed one. ‘HAUskaa Joulua’ means ‘Happy Christmas’. The first three letters are in capitals because that’s what the dogs say in Finnish. They don’t go WOOF, they go HAU.
Here is a picture of what they look like. Click the image to see all 20. The cards are not as crooked as they look. They were just laid on the table not so flat.
